Surrenders
When contacting Minerva's Den regarding a possible surrender, please email [email protected] and include the following information as known to you: type and species (if known), size, if an enclosure is included (and size of) plus any medical/behavioral issues we need to know about in advance. Thank you.
While Minerva's Den would like to help every animal in need there are physical and financial limits.
When we are unable to help directly, we will provide at least one other contact.
If you are able to keep your pet until a new home is found, we can put a courtesy post on our adoptions page. All arrangements are between you and the potential adopters.
Minerva's Den is a home based rescue. We do not operate a shelter and do not have public hours. All business is conducted by appointment only.
Minerva's Den does not operate as an immediate emergency service and we are unable to make emergency pick ups. We are sorry but we can only operate by scheduled appointments.
If you have adopted an animal from Minerva's Den and find yourself in a position where you can no longer care for it, Minerva's Den will always accept the animal back as stated in the adoption contract. The exception would be a formerly legal species becoming illegal. In that case we would assist with finding an alternate facility.
Minerva's Den is not licensed for wildlife rehabilitation. If you find wildlife in need of assistance please contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Referrals can be found on the Ohio Wildlife Rehabilitator's Association Website http://www.owra.org/ Arrowhead Reptile Rescue www.arrowheadreptilerescue.org is also a licensed reptile rehabilitator.
There is never a fee to surrender an animal. If you are able to donate, the animals do appreciate it. Minerva's Den is not yet 501(c)3 but may become so in the future.
It is the responsibility of the surrendering party to transport the animal(s) to Minerva's Den. There are animal transport groups that may be able to help if needed. We are sorry, but it is just not possible for us to do pick ups.
